In Belize, the law requires that all vehicles on the road be insured with 3rd Party Motor Insurance. These are acquired by yearly payments made by the owners of all companies, or private owner vehicles.
Depending on the insurance company used when purchasing this insurance, drivers are covered for any liability incurred to 3rd parties.
In addition to this most auto rental companies provide an extended agreement to its clients. This agreement provides that for a cost of $13 usd (as in the case of our company) damages to the rental vehicle will be limited to a deductible of $1,500 should the vehicle be damaged.
